Coastal Navigation Course – $695

This comprehensive course will enable the sailor or power-boater to safely navigate a vessel in coastal or inland waters. The course covers chart reading, buoyage, lights, bearings and fixes, dead reckoning, set & drift, tides and currents, signals, and much more.  In addition, Navigators should be able to combine “traditional” navigation with the ever increasing GPS enabled devices coupled with electronic aids including AIS, radar, autopilots, and internet based weather resources.  The student should bring dividers, parallel ruler, pencils, and a notebook.

This course is taught solely in the classroom over 4 days.  Two of the days will be held virtually via Google Meets, and the other two days will be in our classroom here in Deltaville, VA.  Text books and study guides are included in the cost and will be mailed to your address.  This is a 32 hour course, in which you will be more confident than ever to safely go from where you are to where you want to go.

Because no sea time is required, Norton’s offers this class during the winter months. Additional classes may be scheduled on a case-by-case basis.
