Location: Deltaville, VA

About the Role

A hands-on outdoor role supporting the full-service yard. Responsibilities include haul-outs, bottom painting, washing, boat handling, yard equipment use, and assisting technicians. Ideal for someone who wants to learn the marine trade in a respected Chesapeake Bay yard.

Key Responsibilities

Boatyard Operations

• Assist with haul-outs and launches using a 50-ton travel lift
• Operate or learn forklifts, hydraulic trailers, pressure washers, and yard equipment
• Set jackstands, keel blocks, and cribbing
• Move boats under supervision

Boat Preparation & Maintenance

• Bottom painting (ablative, hard, barrier coat support)
• Tape, sand, wash, and prep hulls
• Wash and detail boats
• Install zincs/anodes
• Assist technicians with general tasks

General Yard Support

• Maintain clean, safe yard conditions
• Assist with waste disposal and materials handling
• Load/unload supplies
• Support foreman, service team, and lift operator
• Follow safety procedures

Qualifications

Required

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs
• Ability to work outdoors year-round
• Comfortable around boats, heights, machinery, and water
• Reliable work ethic
• Willingness to learn

Preferred

• Marina/boatyard experience
• Forklift or travel-lift experience
• Painting/sanding/construction background
• Familiarity with bottom paint
• Boat handling experience
